Tatanagar Station to Reopen Childline Centre

Railway officials seek location on platform one to assist lost and runaway children

Jamshedpur’s Tatanagar station plans to revive crucial service for reuniting children with families, following successful operation from 2018 to 2023.

JAMSHEDPUR – Railway authorities at Tatanagar station are actively working to reestablish a Childline centre on platform number one, following directives from the district administration.

"We’re identifying an appropriate location to ensure maximum visibility and accessibility," a senior railway official stated.

The initiative aims to provide immediate assistance to children who have become separated from their families or have run away from home.

Childline volunteers have been patrolling the station premises for the past two weeks, identifying and supporting children in need.

"Our goal is to create a safe space for vulnerable children at the station," a Childline representative explained.

The previous Childline centre at Tatanagar station operated from May 2018 to September 2023, successfully reuniting over two thousand children with their families.

Railway officials are collaborating with child welfare organizations to ensure the new centre meets all necessary requirements.

The reestablishment of this service is expected to significantly enhance child safety measures at the busy Tatanagar station.

Local authorities have praised the initiative, highlighting its importance in protecting vulnerable young travelers.

The reopening date for the Childline centre will be announced once a suitable location is finalized and necessary preparations are completed.
