Brahmananda Narayana Hospital (BNH) in Jamshedpur has achieved a significant medical milestone with the successful implantation of a CRT-D device by Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Akhlaque Ahmed.

JAMSHEDPUR – Brahmananda Narayana Hospital (BNH) in Jamshedpur has achieved a significant medical milestone with the successful implantation of a CRT-D device by Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Akhlaque Ahmed.

The patient, 44-year-old Vinod Kumar Sharma, experienced severe breathing difficulties that led him to seek medical attention from Dr. Ahmed.

Following an angiogram, Sharma was diagnosed with a low ejection fraction of around 20%, indicating reduced heart pumping efficiency. Despite being otherwise fit, his condition necessitated the CRT-D implantation to enhance cardiac function.

The procedure, performed under local anesthesia as a day-care intervention, resulted in Sharma’s rapid recovery and discharge in a stable condition after just one day.

CRT-D implantation is vital for patients suffering from congestive heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy. Dr. Ahmed stressed the importance of prompt medical investigation for symptoms like fatigue and breathlessness.

Vinit Raj, the Facility Director at BNH, emphasized the hospital’s advanced infrastructure and commitment to providing top-tier cardiac care, highlighting BNH’s dedication to excellence in cardiology and complex cardiac interventions.
