Violent Clash Erupts in Bokaro Over Electrocution Incident, Injures 12
A violent confrontation between two communities in Bokaro’s Bharra Basti, sparked by an electrocution incident, left 12 injured and prompted heavy police intervention with tear gas and rubber bullets.
BOKARO – A violent confrontation between two communities erupted in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Monday, injuring at least 12 individuals, including police officers.
The clash, involving heavy stone pelting, stemmed from an incident in Bharra Basti, Nagar police station area, where two buffaloes were electrocuted.
The disturbance began after an electric wire fell, electrocuting two buffaloes, which prompted the buffalo owner to break the wire to retrieve the bodies, leading to a power outage. This wire was reportedly part of an illegal connection.
Residents on one side grew angry, allegedly assaulting the buffalo owner, which escalated into stone pelting from both sides.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Alok Ranjan stated that the situation is now under control with increased police presence in the area.
He mentioned that tear gas was used to disperse the crowd, and prohibitory orders have been imposed in and around Bharra Basti.
Eyewitnesses reported that during the clash, people threw a bike into the river out of anger. Police from various stations were summoned to the scene, and in the ensuing chaos, City DSP was injured by stones.
To control the situation, police fired tear gas and rubber bullets, eventually dispersing the crowd.
Currently, the area remains peaceful, but security has been significantly increased to prevent further incidents.
