Upon receiving the prestigious Padma Shri award, Chami Murmu was warmly greeted in Rajnagar, highlighting her three-decade commitment to environmental conservation.
JAMSHEDPUR – Chami Murmu, recently honored with the Padma Shri, returned to a heartwarming reception in Rajnagar this Saturday. The event was held at the Allied Women’s Organization’s office in Bagraisai.
During her welcome, Murmu reflected on her thirty years of dedication to environmental protection.
She reminisced about her early inspirations and the humble beginnings of her journey, sparked by her grandfather’s influence.
Murmu has been instrumental in planting over one lakh saplings annually, resulting in around 30 million thriving plants today.
Her efforts have led to the formation of over 3,000 women’s groups, focusing on ecological sustainability and self-reliance.
Acknowledging the importance of her accolade, she expressed gratitude towards the Indian President and Prime Minister for recognizing her efforts.
The event was attended by notable members of the Allied Women’s Organization and local community leaders.
