Jamshedpur Tutor Sentenced to 14 Years for Exploiting Student

Court Delivers Harsh Sentence and Compensation for Victim in Landmark Case

In a significant legal decision, the Jamshedpur court has sentenced Partha Das, a tuition teacher, to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for the physical exploitation of a student.

JAMSHEDPUR – The court of Additional District Judge Rajendra Kumar Sinha found Das guilty of manipulating his student under the guise of offering tuition, leading to a prolonged abusive relationship.

The abuse began in 2011 when the victim, then only 14, approached Das for tutoring. Over the years, Das exploited her vulnerability, resulting in multiple pregnancies.

Despite initially promising to marry her, Das later reneged on his commitment, prompting the victim to lodge a formal complaint at Mango police station.

The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Das, with an additional year of imprisonment should he fail to pay the fine.

Furthermore, the ruling includes directives for compensating the victim, acknowledging the severe impact of Das’s actions on her life.

This verdict marks the concluding case of Judge Rajendra Prasad Sinha’s four-year tenure in

Jamshedpur, leaving a strong message on the seriousness with which sexual exploitation is treated in the judicial system.
