Bishunpur MLA Chamra Linda to Contest Lohardaga Seat as Independent
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA resists party pressure, vows independent candidacy in upcoming elections
In a bold political move, Chamra Linda, the MLA from Bishunpur representing Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has declared his intention to contest the Lohardaga parliamentary seat independently. Despite attempts by his party to persuade him otherwise, Linda is set to file his nomination on April 24 as an independent candidate, signaling a significant shake-up in the electoral scene.
RANCHI – Linda’s decision follows reported dissatisfaction within his party, leading him to break away and pursue an independent path in the elections.
Senior JMM leaders, including Deepak Biruwa, have unsuccessfully tried to sway his decision, highlighting the party’s concern over his split from the established party line.
His nomination filing, scheduled for 11:00 am on April 24, is expected to significantly alter the political dynamics in Lohardaga.
Linda’s move could potentially impact the electoral chances of India Alliance candidate Sukhdev Bhagat, introducing a strong contender into the race.
His previous successes against Congress candidates in 2009 and 2014 further demonstrate his influence and potential to reshape the political landscape in the region.
