Yet Another Jamshedpur Man Falls Victim to Cyber Fraud
Rs 7 Lakh Swindled in Part-Time Job Scam, FIR Lodged
Harvinder Singh from Sakchi Dev Nagar Green Apartment, Jamshedpur, loses Rs 7 lakh to a cyber scam offering part-time work, leading to police action.
JAMSHEDPUR – A resident of Sakchi Dev Nagar Green Apartment, Jamshedpur, named Harvinder Singh, has been defrauded of Rs 7 lakh 10 thousand 645 by cyber criminals promising lucrative part-time work.
The scam was initiated through a message received on Singh’s Telegram ID on February 22, which lured him with the prospect of earning side income by performing app reviews.
Claiming affiliation with the significant entity "App Player," the fraudsters convinced Singh of earning between Rs 1000 to Rs 6500 per task.
Singh was instructed to visit a website, register, and submit his bank account details for receiving payments after completing daily tasks, which involved giving around 28 reviews.
He was added to a Telegram group with over 40 members, where new recruits were manipulated into transferring funds to various accounts under the guise of completing tasks.
After transferring Rs 7 lakh 10 thousand 645 as directed, Singh was deceitfully informed that an additional Rs 7 lakh was required to "unstock" and withdraw his money.
An FIR against an unidentified perpetrator has been filed by Singh at the Bistupur Cyber Police Station, with the police commencing an investigation into the incident.
