Traffic police crack down on roadside encroachments in Seraikela

Heavy vehicles and fruit vendors targeted for causing accidents and congestion

The traffic police in Seraikela have initiated a crackdown on heavy vehicles parked on roadsides and fruit vendors operating with carts, in an effort to curb accidents and ease congestion.

SERAIKELA – Starting from Friday, the traffic police began issuing online and offline challans to vehicles parked illegally near the modern power plant in Kandra.

During the operation, some drivers fled the scene to avoid being penalized.

Subsequently, the police targeted fruit vendors who had set up unauthorized carts on the Kharkai bridge.

The sudden action by the traffic police caused panic among the vendors, prompting them to abandon their carts and flee.

The police confiscated the carts and transported them to the police station.

Traffic in-charge Rajesh Kumar stated that despite repeated warnings, heavy vehicle drivers and fruit vendors continue to park haphazardly, leading to daily road accidents.

He also noted that the presence of handcarts contributes to persistent traffic jams.

The crackdown, which began on Friday, is set to continue in the future.

Rajesh Kumar warned that repeat offenders will face challans, and regular action will be taken to address the issue of road congestion.

The traffic police’s initiative aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance road safety in the region.
