Jamshedpur Parents Demand ‘Retest’ of Students Under Dist Admn Watch

Parents Protest at SDO Office, Submit Memorandum

In a significant development in Jamshedpur’s educational sector, private schools have consented to conduct retests for the hundreds of students who failed in class 9 and class 11 this year, following protests from concerned parents and directives from the district administration.

JAMSHEDPUR – Following a substantial outcry from parents over the failure of hundreds of students in classes 9 and 11 in private schools, a resolution has been reached to offer retests for the affected students. However, parents are now demanding that the retest be conducted under the district administration’s watch.

The decision came after parents demonstrated at the Sakchi SDO office, demanding the retests be conducted under the district administration’s supervision to ensure fairness.

Parents, led by the local parents’ association, voiced their frustrations and concerns through a peaceful demonstration, advocating for their children’s right to a fair academic evaluation.

The parents’ association took their grievances to SDO Parul Singh, submitting a memorandum that calls for stricter regulation of private schools and their teaching practices.

Dr. Umesh Kumar, representing the parents’ association, emphasized the need for measures to prevent such incidents from recurring, advocating for a ban on private school teachers offering tuition.

He highlighted the violation of rules by teachers who engage in private tutoring, a practice that is officially prohibited but continues unchecked.

The agreement to hold retests represents a compromise between the schools and the parents, aiming to rectify the situation and ensure that students are not unfairly penalized.

"A thorough reevaluation process is essential to uphold the integrity of our educational standards," said a district official, underlining the administration’s commitment to fairness.

A parent involved in the protests remarked, “This decision is a relief for many families. Our aim is to safeguard our children’s education and future.”
