Siblings’ Quarrel Over Scrap Proceeds Ends in Tragedy
A fatal confrontation between siblings over the sharing of proceeds from sold scrap has shocked Jugsalai, resulting in one brother’s death and the other’s arrest.
JAMSHEDPUR – Siblings Tasawwar Hussain and Gauhar Hussain of Gharib Nawaz Colony, Jugsalai, had a dispute over sharing of sold scrap they used to pick and sell that led to the elder, Tasawwar beating Gauhar to death.
The incident occurred late Saturday night, prompting police intervention.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials secured the deceased’s body and arranged for a post-mortem examination.
Subsequently, the accused, identified as Tasawwar Hussain, a scrap picker from Islam Nagar, was apprehended in connection with the murder.
Tasawwar and his brother Gauhar Hussain were known to engage in scrap picking together, sharing the proceeds from their endeavors.
However, familial tensions and substance abuse reportedly marred their relationship.
The dispute erupted while dividing the proceeds from a recent transaction, culminating in a violent confrontation where Tasawwar allegedly struck Gauhar multiple times with a stick until he succumbed to his injuries.
Family members revealed that both brothers battled drug addiction, with Tasawwar’s marital woes further exacerbating his struggles.
Following the completion of the post-mortem examination, authorities handed over the body to the family.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A police official stated, "This tragic event underscores the urgent need for community support systems to address substance abuse and familial disputes."
A resident of Gharib Nawaz Colony expressed shock, noting, "It’s a somber reminder of how quickly disputes can escalate among those struggling with addiction."
