Tata Steel Unveils Renovated Chess Facility in Jamshedpur

World-class training center opens at JRD Tata Sports Complex

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel inaugurated a state-of-the-art chess training facility at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, aiming to nurture chess talent.

The renovated facility boasts a spacious 150-square meter area for chess enthusiasts.

Moreover, it features separate training centers for beginners and advanced players.

A 30-square meter office and library caters to administrative and research needs.

Furthermore, air conditioning units ensure a comfortable environment during intense training sessions.

The center, operational since 1989, has already trained over 4,500 chess cadets.

Additionally, it has hosted significant tournaments, including the Tata International Open Chess in 1999 and 2003.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, inaugurated the facility.

Grand Master Pravin Thipsay also graced the occasion with his presence.

Meanwhile, Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief of Sports at Tata Steel, attended the inauguration ceremony.

The facility’s renovation aligns with Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting sports excellence.

In addition, it aims to create a platform for Indian chess players to excel internationally.

Notably, this is the oldest chess center in India, regularly conducting coaching camps.

The center also promotes students through quarterly examinations.

Besides chess training, students receive instruction in yoga, meditation, and physical fitness.

On the other hand, recent successful tournaments have showcased Jamshedpur’s potential as a sports hub.
