#IamVerifiedVoter Campaign Aims to Boost Electoral Participation
The District Election Officer, in collaboration with Jharkhand’s Assistant Chief Electoral Officer and other key officials, initiated the three-day #IamVerifiedVoter campaign in Jamshedpur, encouraging voter registration and participation to strengthen local democracy.
JAMSHEDPUR – District Election Officer Mr. Ananya Mittal inaugurated the #IamVerifiedVoter campaign at Loyola School Auditorium, marking a strategic effort to enhance voter awareness and participation.
This campaign is set to inform voters about their polling booths and verify their names on the voter list over three days.
"Through this initiative, we aim to ensure that every eligible voter is well-informed and ready to exercise their democratic right," Mr. Mittal expressed during the launch.
He further emphasized the importance of being listed on the voter roll as a preliminary step to voting, addressing the assembly on the process and necessary documents for voter identification, even in the absence of an EPIC card.
A variety of ID proofs, including Aadhar Card, MNREGA Job Card, and Bank or Post Office Passbooks with photos, have been identified as acceptable for voting.
Mr. Mittal highlighted the ease with which residents can register or update their voter details using Form 6 and Form 8, either through their Block Level Officers (BLO) or online via the Election Commission’s platforms.
Voter Accessibility Tools Introduced
The campaign also introduced several tools to aid voter registration and information retrieval, such as the VoterHelp Line app, the 1950 toll-free number, and the nvsp portal.
Mr. Mittal urged the public to leverage these resources to secure their participation in the democratic process, reinforcing the ongoing efforts to maintain an up-to-date voter list throughout the year.
Tackling Urban Voter Apathy
Addressing the urban voting challenge, the Senior Superintendent of Police highlighted the district’s endeavors to increase voter turnout.
He noted the continuous efforts by the administration and the Election Commission to engage more citizens in voting, especially in urban areas.
"Active participation in voting is essential for the sustenance of a strong democracy," he stated, calling for more people to get involved in the electoral process.
During the event, a voter’s oath was administered by the District Election Officer, encouraging individuals and their families to partake in upcoming elections.
Form 8 was distributed and filled out by attendees and senior officers alike, ensuring their ability to vote in their local residential areas for future elections.
The campaign’s launch was supported by the presence of notable figures including Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Subodh Kumar, SP Rural Mr. Rishabh Garg, Additional Municipal Commissioner Mr. Ranjit Lohra, District Public Relations Officer Mr. Panchanan Oraon, Deputy Electoral Officer Mrs. Priyanka Singh, and members of the Loyola School Management.
