Kurmi Community Demands Separate Column for Itself Under Sarna Religion Code in Census 2021

Jamshedpur: Adivasi Kurmi community too has demanded a special column for itself under Sarna religion code during Census 2021. The community members are also demanding inclusion of Kurmali language in the 8th schedule of the constitution.

A delegation of Adivasi Kurmi community today reached the DC Office and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Jharkhand the Prime Minister of India to the DC.

The memorandum lists 13 demands of the Kurmi community.

The members of the delegation of the Kurmi community also said that if the state government and the Centre do not concede all their demands, they would oppose Census 2021.

It may be added here that the Adivasi community of Jharkhand has already been demanding that a separate Sarna religion code be included in census 2021.
