Efforts to Boost Voter Turnout in Elections in Jamshedpur

Chief Electoral Officer focuses on increasing participation at low turnout polling stations.

Dr. Neha Arora calls for enhanced voter engagement in areas with historically low turnout to improve election participation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Neha Arora, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, has issued a directive aimed at increasing voter participation in areas that have shown low turnout in previous elections.

She has called on district officers to make personal visits to these polling stations to identify and resolve any issues that might deter voter participation.

Specific instructions were given to officers, at least at the rank of Block Development Officer, to work in conjunction with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and local awareness groups to ensure voters have a smooth experience at the polls.

Dr. Arora has emphasized the importance of voter registration, urging those not on the electoral roll to complete Form-6 ahead of the deadline, to facilitate an increase in voter turnout by addressing the factors contributing to electoral apathy.

During a comprehensive review of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programs across all districts, conducted via video conferencing from Election House, Dhurwa, Dr. Arora highlighted the necessity of customized communication strategies to effectively reach every potential voter.

The review session underscored the use of Voter Awareness Forums, educational ambassadors, election icons, and awareness groups to ensure wide-reaching voter education and engagement.

Concerns were raised about the insufficient submission of Form-6 at several stations, prompting Dr. Arora to call for immediate action from officers to address this issue. Deputy Election Officers and others involved in voter awareness efforts were provided with guidelines to enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives.
