Tata Power’s Jojobera Plant Innovates for Sustainability

Powering Jharkhand: Jojobera Plant’s Vital Role with 427.5 MW Capacity

Jojobera Power Plant, in collaboration with GE, implements DE-NOx System for reduced emissions and enhanced combustion efficiency, setting a new industry benchmark with its sustainability initiatives.

JAMSHEDPUR – Jojobera Power Plant of Tata Power has been leading the way in innovation and operational excellence.

In partnership with GE, the facility has introduced the DE-NOx System, featuring the advanced DB+ controller.

This system significantly cuts NOx emissions and optimizes combustion.

The dual benefit of improved NOx abatement and combustion efficiency leads to a notable decrease in CO2 emissions.

Preparing for the future energy landscape, the plant has tested 40% technical minimum load operations.

This demonstrates Tata Power’s dedication to adaptability amidst increasing renewable energy use.

Prioritizing safety, the plant has adopted Robotic Power Isolation in the 6.6 KV switchgear to mitigate high-risk exposure.

Jojobera plant’s achievements include receiving the "Best Water-Efficient Plant" award for sustainable water practices.

It also won the Platinum Award in the 10th CII-IQ National Practice Competition for AI and Machine Learning adoption with UPTIME AI.

Industrial Energy Ltd, part of Tata Power, garnered the CII ER Excellence Award in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices.

The plant began with a 67.5 MW coal-based unit from Tata Steel, expanding to supply electricity to Jamshedpur and Tata Steel’s plant, remaining a pioneer in sustainable energy practices.
