Anti-Drug Campaign Launched in Jamshedpur

Awareness Chariot to Spread Message Against Substance Abuse Across the District

The District Public Relations Office, East Singhbhum, has initiated a comprehensive anti-drug campaign to raise awareness about the perils of substance abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle, under the guidance of District Magistrate Ananya Mittal.

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar inaugurated the week-long drive by flagging off an awareness chariot from the Collectorate premises, which will traverse various parts of the district, engaging the public in interactive sessions and providing information on the dangers of drug addiction.

"Substance abuse is a menace that not only ruins individual lives but also dismantles families and weakens the very foundation of our society," said Kumar, emphasizing the significance of the campaign in reaching out to people from all walks of life and equipping them with the knowledge and resources to fight addiction.

The awareness chariot, manned by a dedicated team of volunteers and experts, will serve as a mobile platform for enlightening discussions on the health, social, and economic repercussions of drug abuse, while also offering guidance on available support systems and rehabilitation facilities.

"Prevention through education is our primary focus in curbing the drug epidemic. By empowering our youth with the right information, we can enable them to make responsible decisions and nurture a healthier generation," remarked Rajesh Patel, a social worker associated with the campaign.

A Multifaceted Approach to Tackle Drug Menace

The awareness drive is a crucial component of the district administration’s multipronged strategy to combat the drug menace, which includes intensified efforts to dismantle drug smuggling networks and strengthen rehabilitation centers.

Ananya Mittal, the District Magistrate, stressed the importance of a coordinated response, directing all relevant departments and agencies to collaborate closely, exchanging intelligence and resources to disrupt the supply chain of illegal drugs, while simultaneously bolstering the infrastructure for holistic support to those grappling with addiction.

The campaign has struck a chord with the public, garnering an overwhelmingly positive response, with numerous residents pledging to embrace a drug-free life, and community leaders, educational institutions, and local organizations rallying behind the cause.

As the awareness chariot embarks on its journey, the district administration remains resolute in its mission to forge a drug-free East Singhbhum, confident that sustained efforts and unwavering public participation will pave the way for a safer, healthier community for all.
