CGPC Protests Against Reduction of Sikh Representatives in Nanded Committee

Sikh community in Jamshedpur opposes Maharashtra government’s decision on Nanded Gurudwara management.

Jamshedpur’s Sikh community rallies against changes to Takht Shri Hazur Sahib board representation.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) has voiced strong opposition to the Maharashtra government’s decision to decrease the number of Sikh representatives in the Nanded Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee.

A protest was organized by the Sikh community of Jamshedpur, where a memorandum was submitted to the Maharashtra Chief Minister via the Deputy Commissioner.

CGPC’s head, Sardar Bhagwan Singh, criticized the Maharashtra government’s move as an affront to the Sikh community’s sentiments.

The amendment in the law affects the representation of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) members within the management board of Takht Shri Hazur Sahib, Nanded.

Sardar Shailendra Singh, the chairman, also expressed severe disapproval of the decision, emphasizing the community’s refusal to accept government interference in their religious affairs.

The CGPC’s protest reflects broader concerns about preserving the autonomy and integrity of Sikh religious institutions and their governance.
