Jharkhand CM Champai Soren to Seek Trust Vote on Feb 5
Jharkhand Witnesses Leadership Transition Amid Political Turmoil
In a significant political development, Champai Soren took the reins as Jharkhand’s new Chief Minister, pledging to continue the welfare initiatives of his predecessor.
RANCHI – Champai Soren, the JMM legislature party leader, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, promising to advance the welfare schemes initiated by Hemant Soren.
The oath of office was administered by Governor C P Radhakrishnan in the Raj Bhavan’s Durbar Hall, marking Champai Soren as the state’s 12th chief minister.
Senior leaders from the JMM-led alliance, including senior Congress leader Alamgir Alam and RJD leader Satyanand Bhokta, were also sworn in as state ministers during the ceremony.
The 67-year-old tribal leader, representing Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, affirmed his dedication to the state’s development and the welfare of its tribal population.
Following his predecessor Hemant Soren’s arrest in a money laundering case, Champai Soren’s ascension to the chief ministerial position aims to stabilize the state’s governance.
He highlighted the ongoing commitment to the ‘Jal, Jungle, Jameen’ movement, emphasizing the all-round development of tribals and others in Jharkhand.
Champai Soren’s appointment came amidst a political crisis, with him urging the governor for a swift government formation to end the state’s leadership vacuum.
He accused the opposition of creating instability through false propaganda but vowed to expose the conspiracy against Hemant Soren.
Tribal icons and martyrs were invoked as inspirations for the government’s mission to uplift the lives of tribals, indigenous people, Dalits, and the common citizenry.
Celebrations erupted in Champai Soren’s native village, reflecting the community’s support for the new leadership.
The Champai Soren-led coalition government is set to seek a trust vote on February 5, as announced by minister Alamgir Alam, to confirm its majority in the state assembly.
