JMM Rallies Against ED Summons to CM Soren
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Protests ED’s Actions in Ranchi Land Scam Case
In response to Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s repeated summons by the ED, JMM leaders and workers express growing unrest, planning protests and a torch procession.
RANCHI – Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) workers are preparing for a demonstration at Raj Bhavan on Sunday, following a statewide torch procession, expressing their dissent against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Government.
This move comes in the wake of Chief Minister Hemant Soren receiving his tenth summons from the ED in the Ranchi land scam case.
Mushtaq Alam, Ranchi District Mukti Morcha President, voiced frustration over the persistent actions of the ED, believed to be at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Alam highlighted the Chief Minister’s cooperation with the ED, including a 77.5-hour-long statement recording, and accused the ED of trying to hinder the state’s progress.
Dr. Hemlal, JMM Ranchi Secretary, noted the natural outrage of JMM workers and the state’s populace against the BJP and ED.
He referenced recent protests, including the Sahibganj and Dumka Bandh, and the human chain outside the Chief Minister’s house, as manifestations of this growing discontent.
The JMM has warned that any attempts to intimidate a democratically elected leader will be met with strong opposition in a Gandhian manner.
While the party’s central committee officials have remained silent, the district to block unit leaders and workers are increasingly vocal.
The planned protest at Raj Bhavan is seen as a significant step in their campaign against what they perceive as unfair targeting of their leader.
