5 SC Judges too Invited to Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony
DESK: Regarding the consecration of Ram Lalla on January 22, 2024, there is a festive mood both domestically and internationally. Prominent figures both domestically and internationally have received invitations to take part in this initiative. Among them are five judges from our nation.
The five Supreme Court justices who rendered the landmark decision in the Ram Janmabhoomi case have been invited to the Ayodhya Ram Pratishtha celebration on November 9, 2019. On January 22, the life of Ramlala will be dedicated in the Ram temple.
After over 70 years of legal warfare, a five-judge panel led by India’s then Chief Justice, Ranjan Gogoi, delivered the momentous decision.
For the consecration of Ram Lalla, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice SA Bobde, Justice Ashok Bhushan, and Justice S Abdul Nazeer have all been invited by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra.
Out of the five judges, four are retired and now serve in various positions. Among these five is Justice DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India at the moment. Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who retired on November 17, 2019, barely one week after the Ayodhya ruling was issued, presided over the court at the time the judgment was rendered.
On November 18, 2019, Justice Bobde took over as India’s 47th Chief Justice, replacing Ranjan Gogoi. He served for a year and five months. Following this, on November 9, 2022, precisely three years after the Ayodhya ruling, Justice DY Chandrachud took the oath of office as Chief Justice of India.
On July 27, 2020, Justice Ashok Bhushan, a sitting Supreme Court of India judge, was named the Ravi Beas River Tribunal’s chairperson. On July 4, 2021, he announced his retirement from the Supreme Court of India. On November 8, 2021, upon his retirement, he became the Chairman of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.
Jan 4, 2023 was Justice Nazeer’s retirement date. Prior to his retirement, Justice Nazeer presided over a Constitution bench that considered appeals against the Indian government’s 2016 bank demonetization initiative and rendered decisions in support of the national government. At the moment, Justice Nazeer serves as Andhra Pradesh’s governor. He is an authority on the legal system in India. He regularly discusses the value of decolonizing the Indian legal system, the significance of ancient Indian jurisprudence, and various strategies for modifying the Indian legal system to better reflect “Indian culture.”
On November 9, 2019, Ram Lalla received the whole disputed land in Ayodhya from a five-judge bench of the top court. In addition, the bench had ordered the government to provide the Muslim side five acres of alternate property so they could construct the mosque. The seven-decade-long legal issue is thought to have been resolved with the construction of the Ram temple.
