Jharkhand HC Seeks Chief Secretary, DGP Appearance for Baba Bageshwar Case

High Court Calls for Top Officials in Baba Bageshwar Program Case

Jharkhand High Court intervenes in the case regarding permission for Baba Bageshwar’s religious program in Palamu.

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court conducted a hearing on Tuesday concerning the permission for Baba Bageshwar’s religious event in Palamu.

In a significant move, the court has requested the Chief Secretary and DGP to join the hearing via video conferencing on Wednesday.

This directive comes amid ongoing deliberations over the authorization of Dhirendra Shastri, popularly known as Baba Bageshwar, to hold his program.

Arun Shankar, the convener of the Shri Hanumant Katha Organizing Committee, reported that the local administration had revoked permission for the event, citing law and order concerns.

Reacting to this development, the High Court questioned the state’s ability to manage law and order for religious events compared to political rallies.

The committee is optimistic about the High Court’s stance, according to Shankar.

Baba Bageshwar’s program, initially planned between February 10th to 15th in Odnar, Chainpur block, faced similar issues in December when his event in Khannawa was first approved and then canceled for environmental reasons.

The Shri Hanumant Katha Organizing Committee subsequently approached the High Court for permission.

The court had previously requested affidavits from the Chief Secretary and Palamu DC, seeking details on the imposed conditions for Baba Bageshwar’s past events.

While the district administration had discussions with the committee, many issues remained unresolved.
