Former MP urges Jharkhand CM to address residents’ concerns over eviction notices
Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar has written to the Chief Minister of Jharkhand regarding the encroachment notices issued to residents of Sakchi, Jamshedpur.
JAMSHEDPUR – Dr. Ajoy Kumar, former MP and senior Congress leader, has written a letter to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren concerning the encroachment notices issued to residents of Sakchi.
Following the instructions of the Circle Officer of East Singhbhum district office, notices were issued to residents under the Jharkhand Public Land Encroachment Act for encroachments in Ward No. 7, Sakchi.
The notice, issued on July 6, gives residents 14 days to respond by July 20, failing which forced eviction will ensue.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar stated that the residents, who have been living on the land for 50 years and have Jusco water and electricity connections, are now fearful of losing their homes.

He claimed that this action appears to be the result of collusion among certain government officials who are still operating with a BJP mindset, aiming to harass the poor.
Dr. Ajoy Kumar urged the INDIA coalition government to identify and investigate such officials who are working against the interests of the poor.
In his remarks, he assured the residents: “I have visited the areas in Jamshedpur where encroachment notices have been issued. Residents should not worry; no one will take away your homes. This is a promise from me and our INDIA coalition government. I have requested our honorable Chief Minister Hemant Soren to look into this matter through a letter.”
