Court Awaits Written Responses in Hemant Soren’s Bail Deliberations
The special court overseeing the Enforcement Directorate’s cases is awaiting further documentation following a heated bail hearing involving ex-Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The discussion, which featured prominent legal figures, marks a critical phase in this high-profile legal battle.
RANCHI – The latest developments in the case against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren have the judicial and political circles closely watching.
Special Judge Rajeev Ranjan of the PMLA Court has postponed his decision on Hemant Soren’s bail plea.
The decision was deferred following an intense hour-long debate that saw participation from distinguished lawyers representing both sides.
Kapil Sibal, a prominent Supreme Court advocate, argued on behalf of Soren, while the Central Investigation Agency’s case was presented by Zoeb Hussain.
Previously, the court had extended the time for the Enforcement Directorate to prepare its response, adjourning the session.
This followed a spirited exchange on May 1 between the lawyers from both factions, emphasizing the contentious nature of the hearing.
Both parties have been instructed to submit their written replies by May 4, as the judge deliberates on the matter.
