Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Bail Plea Awaits Next Hearing on Wednesday
Jharkhand High Court completes hearing on Hemant Soren’s petition, with ED’s response and further arguments scheduled for Wednesday.
RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court concluded the hearing on the petition of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is seeking bail in a case involving allegations of land tampering.
The hearing took place in the court of Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay, with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filing a reply on Monday.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Hemant Soren, raised questions about the ED’s investigation and the evidence presented.
Kalpana Soren was also present in the courtroom during the proceedings.
Kapil Sibal argued for over an hour, emphasizing that the case revolves around 8.86 acres of land and alleging that a revenue employee tampered with government documents.
Sibal contended that despite two raids by the ED, the agency has not produced any document linking Hemant Soren to the land in question.
He further argued that the sections applied by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) were incorrect and claimed that a fabricated story was constructed to imprison Hemant Soren.
Following Kapil Sibal’s extensive arguments, the court scheduled the next hearing for Wednesday to allow the ED to present its side.
