Hemant Soren Takes Oath as Jharkhand CM for Third Time

Governor Administers Oath, Soren Faces Multiple Challenges in Short Tenure

Hemant Soren has taken charge as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the third time, with Governor CP Radhakrishnan administering the oath of office and secrecy at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

RANCHI – Hemant Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the third time in a ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening.

Despite the short duration of his current term, Soren faces significant challenges.

The first major challenge is to expedite development work in the remaining few months of the fifth assembly’s tenure.

Implementing the announcements made during his previous tenure will be a daunting task for Soren.

Additionally, the upcoming assembly elections in three months will require effective coordination within the coalition parties.

Hemant Soren is set to lead the INDIA alliance in the elections, which includes Congress, RJD, and his own party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Maintaining harmony within the party and coalition will be crucial for Soren to avoid internal dissent.

Manoj Pandey, the central spokesperson for JMM, expressed confidence, stating, "Hemant Soren will succeed in overcoming all challenges."

One of the biggest hurdles for Soren is addressing the corruption allegations against him.

The opposition is likely to target Soren and his family on corruption charges during both the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

If Soren can effectively clear his name from the ED’s investigation and the land scam allegations, it could pose a significant challenge for the BJP in the upcoming elections.

Political analysts suggest that the results of the recent Lok Sabha elections have shown that a large portion of the tribal vote bank remains with the INDIA alliance and JMM.

This was also evident in the 2019 assembly elections, which prevented the BJP from forming the government again.

The coming months will be crucial for Hemant Soren as he navigates these challenges and prepares for the assembly elections.
