ED Raids Jharkhand Coal Trader Izhar Ansari Again

Hazaribagh Coal Trader Faces Second ED Raid in a Year

In a significant development in Jharkhand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a second raid on coal businessman Izhar Ansari’s properties in Hazaribagh. This latest action follows a previous raid on March 3, 2023, intensifying scrutiny on Ansari’s activities in the coal trade.

RANCHI – The ED team, consisting of eight members, arrived at Izhar Ansari’s residence in the Lohsinghna police station area of Hazaribagh at 7:00 am on January 16.

This marks the second time the ED has targeted Ansari’s home, indicating a persistent investigation into his coal trading operations.

CRPF personnel were deployed to support the ED team, underscoring the operation’s significance and potential security concerns.

The previous raid on Ansari’s residence, which took place on March 3, 2023, set the stage for this follow-up action, hinting at ongoing investigations into his business dealings.

Izhar Ansari is a notable figure in the coal trading industry in Jharkhand, a state rich in coal reserves and a key player in India’s coal sector.

Jharkhand’s coal industry has been under scrutiny for illegal mining activities and corruption, with several high-profile raids and investigations in recent years.

The ED’s continuous focus on Ansari suggests a deeper probe into possible financial irregularities or connections with illegal coal mining operations.

This raid is part of a broader effort by Indian authorities to clamp down on corruption and illegal practices in the mining sector, which is crucial for the country’s energy needs and economic growth.

The results and findings of this latest raid are yet to be disclosed, but they could have significant implications for the coal trade in the region.

The ED’s actions reflect a concerted effort to enhance transparency and legal compliance in India’s vital coal industry.
