Sector 12 Police Nab 16 in Cyber Crime Crackdown, Seize Incriminating Evidence
In a significant crackdown, Bokaro police apprehend 16 cyber criminals, seizing an array of devices and fraudulent materials, unraveling a complex scam involving fake PM Mudra Loan offers.
BOKARO – In a major operation, Bokaro’s Sector 12 Police Station successfully apprehended 16 individuals involved in an extensive cyber fraud scheme.
This operation was triggered by confidential tips about suspicious activities in Bari Cooperative and Manmohan Cooperative Colonies.
Investigations revealed that these criminals operated from two locations: Plot No. 119 in Bari Cooperative and Plot No. 647 in Manmohan Cooperative.
A meticulously planned raid by the police led to the discovery and arrest of 5 suspects from each plot.
Interrogations uncovered their modus operandi: exploiting social media platforms to lure victims with fake Prime Minister Mudra Loan offers.
The criminals meticulously orchestrated lottery scams, targeting individuals who shop online.
They utilized sophisticated methods, including couriered winner letters and bar-coded coupons, to deceive victims.
During the raid, police recovered a significant quantity of incriminating evidence, including mobile phones, fake currency, and counterfeit documents.
The haul included 45 mobile phones, 13 spare SIM cards, 1,300 coupon cards, 3,000 winner letters, and 300 envelopes with varied addresses.
City DSP Kuldeep Kumar emphasized the criminals’ strategy of harvesting online shopper data for their fraudulent activities.
The investigation is ongoing, with efforts to unravel connections to the criminal network’s mastermind, identified as Sumit from Patna.
