JAMSHEDPUR – The President of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District Judge, Anil Kumar Mishra, conducted a surprise inspection of Ghaghidih Central Jail, the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Jamshedpur. He was accompanied by Additional Sessions Judge Bimlesh Kumar Sahay, Chief Judicial Magistrate Vishal Gaurav, and DLSA Secretary Rajendra Prasad.
Focus on Juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare
During the visit to the Juvenile Justice Board, Judge Mishra instructed that legal representation be provided to children without lawyers through DLSA. He emphasized the prompt filing of bail bonds for children already granted bail and recommended modification petitions for those unable to fulfill bail conditions. The Judge also stressed the speedy resolution of minor cases.
At the Child Welfare Committee, warm clothes were distributed among the children. These clothes were made available by DLSA in collaboration with Laxya Foundation.
Directives for Ghaghidih Central Jail
At Ghaghidih Central Jail, Judge Mishra directed officials to ensure legal aid for unrepresented inmates. He instructed that appeals be filed promptly for prisoners whose appeals are pending and emphasized the smooth operation of the Jail Legal Aid Clinic.
The Jail Superintendent was directed to submit applications under Section 479 of the BNS Act on time, ensuring compliance with legal procedures.
This inspection highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen legal aid and welfare services for inmates and juveniles in Jamshedpur.
