Randeep Hooda Inaugurates ‘Swatantraveer Savarkar Mukti Shatabdi Yatra’

DESK – On Saturday, actor Randeep Hooda kicked off the Swatantraveer Savarkar Mukti Shatabdi Yatra from Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail.

Hooda is all set to portray the role of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in the upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was released from jail on January 6, 1924.

Today marks a significant milestone as it has been a century since Savarkar ji’s release from jail. Following his release, he was placed under house arrest in Ratnagiri and subjected to district detention.

Randeep said that after his release from jail, he initially traveled to Bombay and subsequently made his way to Ratnagiri. He spent the following thirteen years actively participating in the prohibited movement.

According to him, the individual in question is a highly esteemed patriot whose contributions to our nation are largely unrecognized by the public. My film aims to shed light on his story and provide viewers with a deeper understanding of who he is. Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that his impact on the nation was substantial. After watching the film and reading about him, form your own conclusions, regardless of any preconceived notions.

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883 in Bhagur village near Nashik city of Maharashtra. He was born into a Marathi Chitpavan Brahmin Hindu family, with his parents being Damodar and Radhabai Savarkar. He was known for his role as a champion of freedom, an advocate for change, and a prolific writer. He played a prominent role in the ‘Hindu Mahasabha’.

Savarkar became actively involved in the fight for independence from a young age, joining the freedom movement during his time in high school and continuing his participation while studying at Fergusson College in Pune. During his time studying law in the United Kingdom, he actively participated in organizations like India House and the Free India Society.

In addition, he authored books that advocated for innovative approaches to attain full Indian sovereignty.

One of his works, ‘The Indian War of Independence’, was banned by the British colonial authorities. The book delved into the ‘Sepoy Mutiny’ of 1857, also known as the First War of Independence.

Veer Savarkar, along with notable figures such as Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Khudiram Bose, and Madanlal Dhingra, has been a source of inspiration for many.

Director Sandeep Singh believes that he has been widely misunderstood throughout history, and his upcoming film aims to shed light on the truth about him and his endeavors.

Randeep Hooda, along with Utkarsh Naithani, has directed and co-written Swatantra Veer Savarkar. The film is a collaboration between Legend Studios, Awak Films, Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, and Randeep Hooda Films. Ankita Lokhande, known for her role in the popular TV show ‘Pavitra Rishta’, has been cast alongside Randeep Hooda in an upcoming film.
