Major ED Crackdown on Soren Aide, DC in Jharkhand
Jharkhand faces turmoil as ED targets key figures in illegal mining case, intensifying political uncertainties.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant escalation amidst Jharkhand’s political crisis, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a widespread operation on January 3, targeting 12 locations, including the residences of Hemant Soren’s press advisor, Abhishek Prasad alias Pintu, and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sahibganj, Ramniwas Yadav.
This raid is part of the ongoing investigation into an illegal mining case.
The residences of Grid Architect’s owner Vinod Singh in Ranchi and Artitech Roshan in Piska Mode were also raided.
The ED team summoned a mechanic to break into the locker at Pintu’s house, indicating the seriousness of the search.
Meanwhile, Congress state in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir announced that the party’s future strategy would be decided following a meeting of the ruling party MLAs.
Mir stated that the meeting was pre-planned and aimed at consolidating the party’s stance in light of recent developments.
He also addressed the absence of two Congress MLAs, attributing it to personal reasons.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam expressed confidence in the party’s strength under Mir’s leadership.
As the political atmosphere heats up, MLAs began gathering at the CM’s residence for a critical coalition meeting.
This meeting is likely to discuss potential responses to the ED’s actions, including strategies to counter the alleged misuse of the agency by the central government.
This gathering, seen as a show of unity, could also set the stage for upcoming electoral battles.
With the state’s politics in flux, discussions about potential successors to CM Hemant Soren are also underway, amidst growing speculation about the state’s political future and the possibility of President’s rule.
