Tata Steel Among CII’s Top 50 Innovative Companies 2023

CII Honors Tata Steel for Innovation in Technology and Sustainability

Tata Steel earns a spot in CII’s ‘Top 50 Innovative Companies of 2023’ for its commitment to innovation, sustainable practices, and CO2 footprint reduction.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s innovative strides have garnered prestigious recognition from the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

This honor, awarded at the CII ‘Technology Conclave and Innovation Awards’ 2023, celebrates the company’s significant contributions to innovation.

Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, Vice President of Technology and R&D at Tata Steel, expressed pride in receiving this accolade, which underscores the company’s dedication to tackling industry challenges through innovative solutions.

One of the key factors behind this recognition was Tata Steel’s groundbreaking pilot trial of hydrogen injection in a Blast Furnace.

This trial demonstrated the potential to lower the coke rate by 10%, leading to a substantial reduction in CO2 emissions – approximately 7-10% less per ton of crude steel produced.

The award criteria focused on novel processes, products, services, and technologies that have significantly impacted the industry or introduced radical changes.

Tata Steel’s commitment to innovation extends to fostering a culture that encourages new ideas and robust management practices.

The company’s participation in the CII platform has facilitated knowledge exchange and collaborative learning with various industries.

Continuous investment in innovative technologies aligns with Tata Steel’s vision of self-reliance and a sustainable future, emphasizing the company’s role as a leader in technological advancement and environmental stewardship.
