SCCI Ex-VP Urges Civil Aviation Minister to Cap Air Fares

Mukesh Mittal Advocates for Affordable Air Travel in Letter to Minister

Mukesh Mittal, former Vice President of SCCI and President of PSZMS, has addressed rising airfare concerns in a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

JAMSHEDPUR – Mukesh Mittal, representing both SCCI and PSZMS, has written to Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia about the soaring airfares affecting middle-class citizens.

In his letter, Mittal points out the burden these exorbitant fares place on families, particularly for education and medical purposes.

He highlights the unaffordability of current airfares for students, patients, and the middle class, a situation worsened by the exit of GO Airways.

Mittal suggests that airlines may be exploiting the situation, possibly forming a cartel, leading to unethical profiteering.

The letter brings attention to the struggle of parents sending children to other cities for education and patients seeking advanced treatment.

Mittal describes the airlines’ pricing strategies as a significant financial burden on common citizens.

He urges the Civil Aviation Minister to consider implementing a cap on the variation between base and peak fares to aid the public.

Additionally, he suggests the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) should investigate the matter for fair resolution.

Mittal’s letter is a plea for regulatory intervention to make air travel more accessible and fair for all citizens.

The call for action reflects growing concerns about the impact of high airfares on the economic well-being of ordinary people.
