JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s coal mining achievements have been recognized with nine prestigious Five-Star Ratings, demonstrating excellence in operational and sustainability standards.

The Annual Rating of Coal Mines in India has consistently awarded the top rating to Tata Steel’s mines for three consecutive years: 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.

The awards, conferred on December 20, 2023, at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, highlight Tata Steel’s commitment to high standards in the mining sector.

Shri Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, presented the awards, underscoring the company’s industry-leading practices.

Tata Steel’s Jharia Division, represented by General Manager Sanjay Rajoria, showcased their excellence in underground and opencast mining.

Sijua Colliery and Jamadoba Colliery from the Jharia Division were recognized for their top-tier performance in underground mining.

Digwadih Colliery and Bhelatand Amalgamated Colliery also received accolades, further solidifying Tata Steel’s dominance in the sector.

The West Bokaro Division’s Quarry AB coal mine excelled in the opencast category, earning the highest award for 2021-22.
