BJM Protests Child’s Punishment for Wearing Puja Tilak in School
Agrico’s Tarapore School faces backlash from BJM for punishing a child wearing a puja tilak. The incident has led to protests and clashes with police.
JAMSHEDPUR – In Tarapore School, Agrico, Jamshedpur, a controversy erupted over the punishment of a child for attending school with a puja tilak.
The incident gained momentum on Thursday, sparking significant unrest.
Members of MLA Saryu Roy’s party, Bharatiya Janatantra Morcha (BJM), created a commotion in the school premises.
BJM workers accused the school of threatening and intimidating children, warning of issuing transfer certificates (TC) for wearing religious symbols.
In response, BJM workers locked the school gate and staged a strike.
The situation escalated when Sitaramdera police station in-charge arrived on the scene, leading to clashes between BJM workers, the police, and school management.
BJM District General Secretary Manoj Singh Ujjain alleged that the school management expelled a student from the classroom for wearing tilak.
The issue came to light when the student’s parents arrived to pick up the child.
Ujjain claimed that the principal demanded the removal of the tilak for the student to be allowed back into the class.
Following the incident, BJM supporters and parents demonstrated in front of the school gate, expressing their displeasure towards the school management.
Ujjain announced plans to file a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner and Education Department over the incident.
