East Singhbhum Youth Carries Own Death Certificate
Living Man Declared Dead: East Singhbhum Youth’s Bizarre Ordeal
In a bewildering mix-up at MGM Hospital, East Singhbhum youth Sandeep Tantubai carries a death certificate erroneously issued in his name.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a bizarre administrative blunder in East Singhbhum district, 23-year-old Sandeep Tantubai finds himself in a surreal situation, carrying a death certificate issued in his name while he is very much alive.
The confusion began following the demise of Sandeep’s father, Ganesh Tantubai, who succumbed to injuries from a road accident at MGM Hospital, Kolhan’s largest government hospital.
MGM Hospital mistakenly declared Sandeep, instead of his late father, deceased, citing his age as 23 on the death certificate.
For the past month, Sandeep has been persistently visiting the hospital to rectify this error and obtain the correct certificate for his father.
This incident has sparked widespread discussion and raised serious questions about administrative oversight in the healthcare system.
Kunal Sarangi, BJP Jharkhand state spokesperson, criticized the hospital’s negligence, expressing shock over the system’s failure to distinguish between the living and deceased.
Sarangi demanded a thorough investigation and stringent action against those responsible, calling for measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Tantubai recounted his continued efforts to correct the mistake, highlighting the hospital’s lack of response despite his frequent visits.
BJP leader Bimal Baitha, who accompanied Sandeep to meet the MGM Hospital superintendent, filed a formal complaint and sought immediate corrective action.
Baitha also emphasized the financial hardships faced by Sandeep’s family due to this error, which has stalled several essential processes.
The hospital superintendent has promised a full investigation into the matter, ensuring necessary amendments are made.
