Sabal Awards Honors Persons with Disabilities in Grand Ceremony
The fourth edition of the Sabal Awards, hosted by Tata Steel Foundation at Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari, honored individuals with disabilities, showcasing remarkable talents and resilience.
JAMSHEDPUR – Captain Amitabh, Head of Skill Development at Tata Steel Foundation, lauded the Sabal Awards for exemplifying the extraordinary achievements of individuals with disabilities.
He praised the event for highlighting the resilience and potential of these individuals.
The Sabal Awards featured two categories: Spirit of Expression and Spirit of Resilience, recognizing and celebrating the talents and fortitude of participants.
Dr Gaurav Raheja, Professor and Head of the Architecture and Planning Department at IIT Roorkee, attended the event, adding to its significance.
Ravi Radhakrishnan, Chief of Aviation at Tata Steel, was among the prominent delegates from the Tata Steel Limited ecosystem present at the ceremony.
Also attending were R N Murty, Managing Director of Tinplate Company of India Limited, and Rituraj Sinha, Managing Director of Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Limited.
Debashis Choudhary, Principal Executive Officer, and Dr Sudhir Rai, General Manager of Medical Services at Tata Steel, graced the event.
Dipankar Dasgupta, Executive-in-Charge of the Industrial By-Products Management Division, and Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, were also present.
The event saw the participation of 47 persons with disabilities and was attended by over 400 people from across the country.
35 participants, all persons with disabilities, performed live, supported by 38 escorts, while a 17-member jury panel evaluated the performances.
37 volunteers from the Tata Steel Technical Institute, Burmamines, provided essential on-ground support, ensuring the event’s success.
The Sabal Awards, through this grand ceremony, successfully created a platform to honor and recognize the diverse abilities and spirit of individuals with disabilities.
