This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik and key officials from both the government and Tata Steel.
The initiative aims to nurture and develop athletes in these sports, providing an environment conducive to their growth.
The Tata Archery Academy, Odisha, and Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Sport Climbing Academy, Odisha, along with regional development centers, will spearhead grassroots programs.
These academies will offer state-of-the-art infrastructure and training facilities, enabling athletes to compete nationally and internationally.
Guidance from experienced professionals at the HPCs will cultivate talent from various sports programs in Odisha.
Athletes will benefit from comprehensive sports facilities at Kalinga Stadium, including India’s largest sports science center.
The collaboration builds on the success of the Naval Tata Hockey High-Performance Centre in Odisha, a previous partnership between the government and Tata Steel.
Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik expressed optimism about promoting archery, particularly among tribal children, through this partnership.
The establishment of the Archery and Sport Climbing HPCs positions Odisha as a leading sports hub in India.
