To promote environmental conservation through public engagement, Tata Steel organized Green-a-thon 2024 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex today.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel hosted the Green-a-thon 2024 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex today, aiming to encourage public involvement in environmental conservation.

The Green-a-thon, which included a walkathon, was officially started by Rajiv Mangal, accompanied by Ram Pravesh, Regional Officer of the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board, Dr. Amit Ranjan Chakraborty, Chief of Environment Management at Tata Steel, and Shailesh Kumar, Deputy President of the Tata Workers’ Union.

Various events, including the Green-a-thon, drawing competition, and elocution contest, have been organized in anticipation of World Environment Day 2024.

The theme for this year’s event is centered around the importance of restoring land, combating desertification, and building resilience to drought.

Over 1000 people took part in the walkathon, strolling through the pristine and eco-friendly areas of Jamshedpur. 1,117 people signed up for the Green-a-thon 2024.

The event kicked off with an informative session about the importance of nature conservation and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

This was followed by some light exercises to get everyone warmed up, and then a fun-filled Zumba session for all the participants to enjoy. Finishers were treated to a special cool-off session.

The event was organized by both the Environment Department and the Sports Department.

In addition to the Green-a-thon, the Environment Department is organizing drawing and elocution competitions that revolve around this year’s theme. Over 500 children have joined in the drawing competition, while 50 children have participated in the elocution contest.
