RANCHI – Sandeep Kumar assumed his role as the new Sports Director of Jharkhand on Wednesday, taking over from Sushant Gaurav in a ceremony at the Birsa Football Stadium in Morhabadi.

"I’m committed to fulfilling this responsibility to the best of my abilities," Kumar stated upon assuming office.

The new director emphasized his focus on nurturing talent from rural areas of Jharkhand.

"Our primary goal is to develop sports at the grassroots level and elevate it to higher standards," Kumar explained.

Outgoing director Sushant Gaurav welcomed Kumar with a bouquet and gave him a tour of the sports directorate premises.

Deputy Director of Sports Manish Kumar and Joint Director of SAAJHA Raj Kishore Khakha attended the handover ceremony.

Kumar expressed gratitude to the government for entrusting him with this significant role in the state’s sports development.

The transition marks a new phase in Jharkhand’s efforts to promote sports and nurture local talent.

Officials present at the ceremony expressed optimism about the department’s future under Kumar’s leadership.

This change in leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives to Jharkhand’s sports development initiatives.
