Dr. Sujata Mitra Reminisces on Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s Life at DBMS Event

Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s birth anniversary observed at DBMS Artifact Auditorium with Dr. Sujata Mitra’s insights.

JAMSHEDPUR – The DBMS Auditorium was the venue for a reverential celebration of Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s birth anniversary, attended by his great-granddaughter, Dr. Sujata Mitra.

Dr. Sujata Mitra, born in Rashtrapati Bhavan and cradled in Khadi by Dr. Prasad himself, shared intimate details of her great-grandfather’s life and values.

Shri B. Chandrashekhar, Chairman of DBMS Trust, welcomed Dr. Mitra, acknowledging her contributions as Director of Mehar Bhai Hospital.

Dr. Mitra, in her role as the chief guest, highlighted Dr. Prasad’s commitment to family and spirituality, as well as his academic excellence from a young age.

She revealed that despite his high office as President for 12 years, Dr. Prasad remained deeply connected to his roots and led a simple life, resisting the influences of English culture in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The program included a presentation on Dr. Prasad’s life through PPT, adding a visual dimension to his inspiring story.

Dr. Juhi Pradita emphasized the value of Dr. Mitra’s presence, allowing attendees to connect with Dr. Prasad’s legacy beyond historical texts.

Dr. Mitra’s presentation of family photos illustrated Dr. Prasad’s simplicity and humility, emphasizing the importance of loyalty, honesty, and truthfulness.

The event also highlighted Dr. Prasad’s adherence to his cultural roots within the Rashtrapati Bhavan, preserving the essence of Bihar amidst prevailing British influences.

Dr. Mitra’s reflections on Dr. Prasad served as a beacon of inspiration for the young generation, encouraging them to value their heritage over western influences.

Approximately 400 students from various DBMS units and faculty members attended this inspiring event.

The program was conducted by Mrs. Anjali Ganesan, while Dr. Monica Uppal expressed gratitude to all the attendees and participants.
