Jamshedpur to Host Asian Kids Climbing Championship on Dec 8-10

Tata Steel Adventure Foundation Unveils IFSC-Accredited Bouldering Wall for Upcoming Championship

Jamshedpur gears up for the Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023, featuring an IFSC-accredited bouldering wall and over 100 athletes from 11 countries.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Sport Climbing Academy is set to host the Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2023 from December 8 to 10.

This event marks a significant milestone for TSAF, following their successful hosting of a similar event last year, the first of its kind in India.

Over 100 young athletes from 11 Asian countries, including strong contenders from India with a 31-member squad, are expected to participate in the championship.

The competition has expanded to include new participating nations like Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, fostering a spirit of harmony and cooperation through sports across Asia.

A key highlight is the inauguration of an international standard bouldering wall, a first in India, measuring 36 meters in height and accredited by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).

This state-of-the-art facility not only enables TSAF to host major international competitions like the World Youth Championships and Cups but also enhances training opportunities for athletes.

Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, expressed pride in sponsoring the championship, emphasizing TSAF’s commitment to promoting sport climbing nationally and within their ecosystem.

The addition of the new IFSC-accredited bouldering wall to TSAF’s existing infrastructure signifies a leap forward in India’s sport climbing capabilities.

Tata Steel’s continued support in fostering sports development is evident in their dedication to regularly hosting such championships and competitions.
