First Tata Steel Joda Run-a-thon a Resounding Success with Enthusiastic Turnout

Over 5,000 participants joined the inaugural Tata Steel Joda Run-a-thon, promoting fitness and environmental sustainability with a ‘Run for a Greener Tomorrow’ theme.

BHUBANESWAR – The inaugural Tata Steel Joda Run-a-thon, emphasizing the importance of fitness and environmental awareness, successfully concluded with over 5,000 participants.

The event, resonating with the theme ‘Run for a Greener Tomorrow,’ was held in Joda at the Central Playground.

Distinguished guests such as Smt Minakshi Mahanta, Hon’ble MLA, Champua, Dr Jagadish Prasad Sahoo, Chairman, Joda Municipality, DB Sundara Ramam, Vice-President (Raw Materials), Tata Steel, Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager (OMQ), Tata Steel, and Surbhi Bhatnagar marked their presence at the event’s commencement.

Tata Steel and the Odisha Athletic Association came together to organize this run, showcasing their commitment to sports and environmental conservation.

In a unique initiative, Tata Steel pledged to plant a sapling for every participant, aligning with their sustainability objectives.

The Run-a-thon offered a range of categories for participants, including 10K, 7K, and 5K races, and a special 2K run for persons with special abilities, ensuring inclusivity.

A substantial prize pool of Rs 5.67 lakh was distributed among the winners across different categories.

Mohan Saini from Uttarakhand and Tansi Singh from Uttar Pradesh clinched the top spots in the 10K men’s and women’s races, respectively.

The event was also a part of Tata Steel’s broader initiative to promote various sports across India, including the establishment of sports academies in football, archery, athletics, hockey, and sport climbing.

This sporting event adds to Tata Steel’s portfolio of runs like the Jamshedpur Run-a-thon, Tata Steel Kolkata 25K Run, Bhubaneswar Half Marathon, and Noamundi and Meramandali Run-a-thons.
