A seminar in Jamshedpur’s District Collectorate marked National Journalism Day, focusing on the complexities journalism faces in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

SERAIKELA – The District Collectorate hosted a significant seminar on National Journalism Day, delving into the challenges and opportunities presented by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism.

The event saw a gathering of journalists from various institutions across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla presided over the workshop, with District Public Relations Officer Sunil Kumar Singh conducting the proceedings.

Deputy Development Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gagrai attended as a special guest.

During the seminar, the Deputy Commissioner addressed the dual nature of AI in journalism, highlighting its benefits and potential risks.

He emphasized the need for journalists to verify information before broadcasting reports.

The focus was on fact-based journalism, whether negative or positive, to effectively address public issues.

The workshop also discussed the Journalist Protection Act and Journalist Insurance, with assurances from the Deputy Commissioner to seek further information.

Issues concerning press accreditation were raised, prompting directives for swift coordination and resolution.

Journalists, including Sheikh Alauddin, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Sachin Mishra, shared their perspectives with the Deputy Commissioner.

The President of the Press Club Seraikela-Kharsawan, Bharat Singh, proposed inaugurating a Press Club building for collective use, receiving positive feedback.

A 10-point memorandum was presented to the Deputy Commissioner by Press Club President Manmohan Singh, to be forwarded to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The Deputy Commissioner assured journalists of security and support for impartial journalism during his tenure.

The workshop, attended by various press representatives and senior journalists, highlighted the evolving dynamics of journalism in the digital age, stressing the importance of adapting to AI while maintaining journalistic integrity.
