DGP unveils Jharkhand Police’s Pratibimb App to crack down on cyber fraud
Ranchi – On Wednesday, DGP Ajay Kumar Singh introduced Jharkhand Police’s Pratibimba app.
This innovative app is designed to highlight the geographical location of mobile numbers linked to cyber fraud cases across the country.
It provides a comprehensive overview of the geographical locations of mobile numbers involved in cyber crimes across the country, displayed on an interactive map.
Jharkhand ranks second in the country in terms of cyber crime with 5,350 cases in the last four and a half years (from 2019 to July 2023). Of these, 1,432 cases were registered in Ranchi district alone. Other notable figures include 496 cases in Dhanbad, 405 in Deoghar, 384 in Jamshedpur and 348 in Hazaribagh.
A workshop focusing on combating cyber crime is currently going on in Ranchi, in which officials from West Bengal, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have participated. Representatives from various government agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Department of Information and Broadcasting (DIB), and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are also participating.
