Tata Steel Gears Up for 8th Annual Jamshedpur Run-a-thon on November 5

Season’s Premier Run Event in Jamshedpur Emphasizes Fitness and Inclusivity with Theme “Fitness is Fun, Just Run!”

Tata Steel announces the eighth edition of Jamshedpur Run-a-thon slated for November 5, aiming to promote fitness and well-being among citizens. With various run categories and attractive prizes, the event is set to draw participants from across the nation.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel is kicking off the running season with the eighth edition of its prestigious Jamshedpur Run-a-thon, scheduled for November 5.

Registration for this highly-anticipated event opens today, offering a platform for fitness enthusiasts, elite athletes, and amateur runners to celebrate fitness and holistic well-being.

Established in 2014, the Run-a-thon has grown into an annual community event focused on fostering a culture of health among the residents of Jamshedpur.

This year, the event promises a wide range of categories, including a 2-km Fun Run open to all, and competitive runs of 5 km, 7 km, and 10 km with lucrative prize money ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 51,000.

The 10-km run will be certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), adding an extra layer of prestige to the competition.

The run will commence from JRD Tata Sports Complex, proceeding through CH Area and Marine Drive to Dobo Bridge, and looping back to the starting point.

In line with Tata Steel’s commitment to sustainability, last year’s edition saw the planting of a sapling for every registered participant and the use of eco-friendly materials for event paraphernalia.

Online registration is open until October 31 on the event website, while offline registration at JRD Tata Sports Complex starts from October 17.

In addition to the Jamshedpur Run-a-thon, Tata Steel has been a significant advocate for sports and fitness, running similar events in Joda, Meramandali, and Ranchi, with announcements for this year’s editions expected soon.

Run Categories

There will be four categories:

  • 2 km- Open to all (Fun Run)

  • 5 km- Boys & Girls

  • 7km- Men & Women

  • 10km- Men & Women

While the 10-KM and 7-KM have an age limit of 19 years and above, the 5-KM category will be open to children aged 12 to 16 years. These three categories, competitive in nature, will have a prize money attached to it. The 10-KM run shall be certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Prizes

The prize money will be from Rs 5000/- to Rs 51,000/- for the first 5 across all categories

Route for the run

The run will be flagged off at JRD Tata Sports Complex. The route will be via CH area through Marine Drive all the way to Dobo Bridge and back through the same route. The run will finish at JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Registration start and end dates
Online registration: 11 October 2023 – 31 October 2023 (tatasteeljsr-run.com)
Offline registration: 17 October 2023 – 31 October 2023 at JRD Tata Sports Complex from 10 AM- 1 PM & 3 PM-6 PM.
