CPI delegation meets Mango street vendors, demands rehabilitation from CM Hemant Soren

Jamshedpur: A CPI delegation led by the district secretary visited Mango and met with shop owners who have been rendered helpless due to recent anti-encroachment drive launched by Mango Municipal Corporation. Most of the shop owners had shops at the Mango Road Divider area and have lost their livelihood due to anti-encroachment drive.

The affected business owners, both men and women, organized a sit-in protest, alleging that administration bulldozers had abruptly and without notice destroyed their stores, an action that was denounced by the CPI.

The CPI leaders said that the administration is purposefully disrupting the normal life in the city through eviction drive at a time when the city is busy with festivals like Ram Navami and Ramzan.

They said that the evicted business owners used to sell veggies to support their family. On the other hand, they said, the city has been dealing with theft and snatching problems.

They are now experiencing an economic crisis as a result of the abrupt demolition of their means of livelihood, which the administration ought to have taken into account.

The CPI delegation requested the Chief Minister Hemant Soren to pay attention to the issue and guarantee the prompt relocation of the shops which have been demolished during the anti-encroachment drive.

The affected shopkeepers have been assured of the CPI’s full support in the struggle for rehabilitation.

CPI leaders Comrade Heera Arkane and Comrade Shravan Kumar were present during the meeting with shopkeepers.
