Water supply shutdown is causing severe problems for the people in the area.
The motor of the filter plant burns every one or two months, leading to recurring disruptions in water supply.
Water being supplied from the filter plant is considered not potable, adding to the residents’ woes.
Protests and agitations have been done to address the issue, but government assurances have failed to alleviate the situation.
The government has allocated Rs 1,88,69,710 for a new filter plant to provide pure drinking water, but the construction has not started yet.
The outgoing executive engineer had promised to complete the construction in 15 months, but he was transferred last month, leaving the project in limbo.
The motor has been sent for repair, and the water supply will resume once it’s fixed.
A map of the new filter plant has been prepared, with work slated to start in a week, and authorities promise it will be completed on time.
