JAMSHEDPUR – Sunil Kumar Pillai had self-immolated in Railway Traffic Colony a month and a half ago, stemming from a leased land dispute. However, not much progress could be achieved by the police in the case to ensure justice to the victim’s family.

The main accused, Om Prakash Kasera, remains absconding.

Nirupama Pillai, Sunil’s wife, filed an FIR against him, IOW SSE RK Singh, Kalyan, Nandu, RPF in-charge SK Tiwari, GK Rai, and Amarendra.

Chakradharpur DRM has pledged action to the victim’s family, promising a thorough investigation into the matter.

Sunil Pillai and Om Prakash Kasera had a dispute over leased land, which led RPF and IOW to take control on June 28.

Sunil’s wife and children reported the situation to the police.

After returning home from work, Sunil had allegedly self-immolated by pouring kerosene over himself.

He was brought to TMH for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on July 3.

The family still awaits for justice.
