“Healthy Mind – Healthy Body” Workshop Marks Amrit Mahotsav in Potka, East Singhbhum

Under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, the Community Health Center in Potka hosted a one-day workshop focused on mental health, offering free check-ups, treatment, and counseling.

JAMSHEDPUR – A one-day workshop titled “Healthy Mind – Healthy Body” was organized at the Community Health Center, Potka by the District Mental Health Department, East Singhbhum under the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.

The event was inaugurated by Medical Officer in-charge Dr. Rajni Mahakud, Medical Officer Dr. Sukanto Sit, and Psychiatrist Dr. Deepak Kumar Giri, who emphasized the importance of mental wellbeing.

Dr. Rajni spoke passionately about overcoming mental stress to start life anew rather than letting it end one’s journey.

The workshop’s highlight was the detailed discussion led by Psychiatrist Dr. Deepak Kumar Giri about mental stress, dementia, and overall mental health.

Elderly attendees benefited from free general mental health check-ups, treatment, and counseling provided by Dr. Giri.

Furthermore, attendees were informed about the free monthly camp organized at the Community Health Center, Potka under the District Mental Health Program.

Scheduled on the third Tuesday of every month, this initiative includes free diabetes and blood pressure check-ups at the clinic for seniors aged 60 years and above.

Dr. Giri’s informative session was complemented by contributions from Clinical Psychologist Dr. Smita Hembram, Psychiatric Nurse Tajin Kullu, Pawan Kumar, PLBhi Selection Board, Dobo Chaki, Sunita, Block Program Manager Anamika Singh, and Block Accounts Manager Manoj Kumar, all of whom played a vital role in making the camp a success.

The workshop stands as a shining example of community efforts in enhancing mental health awareness and offering accessible healthcare, especially to the vulnerable elderly population, aligning with the spirit of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
