Rating Chess Championship Day Two Ends on a High Note

Intriguing battles mark day two of Chess For Everyone Rating Championship, with veterans and young talents competing.

JAMSHEDPUR – Numerous dignitaries, including Jaidev Chandra Tripathi, Guddu Rungta, Rakesh Budhia, Sushil Chomal, Vedant Kheerwal, Subrata Chandra Tripathi, Anant Lal Vishwakarma, Harsh Sharma, and more, added grandeur to the event hosted by the West Singhbhum District Chess Association.

An esteemed panel of judges graced the championship, including International Arbiters Vishal Kumar Minj, Abhishek Acharya, Vikram Kumar, Shivpriya Bhardwaj, and Priyanka Kumari.

Announcement of awards for 50 individuals across various categories was declared by the association’s secretary Basant Khandelwal, expressing his satisfaction over the event’s diverse participation, which included ten players above 55 years of age.

Memorable highlights from the day’s matches included a match between Adhiraj Mitra and Ganita Methi, culminating in an exciting draw, and an impressive upset by Jamshedpur’s Rohit against top-seed Bhudev Chandra Tripathi.

Leading the scoreboard with a commendable 3.5 points were Jharkhand’s Adhiraj Mitra, Kamal Kishore Debnath, Manish Sharma, Bengal’s Ranit Menthi, and others.

However, the limelight was stolen by West Bengal’s Anirban Basu and Rishan Devnath, who garnered an impressive 4 points after four rounds.

Marking its second day, the tournament witnessed intense competition among a total of 180 players hailing from 12 states, an impressive turnout for the Chess For Everyone Rating Chess Championship, organized by Rungta Steel TMT.
